RYA Day Skipper Theory 40hrs over 5 days, or 20 week evening course
The Day Skipper Theory course is suitable for beginners and the experienced looking for a greater understanding of powerboating, motor cruising or sailing. It is recommended by the the RYA that the course is completed prior to RYA Day Skipper Practical and is ideal for those wishing to gain Advanced Powerboat certificates or Powerboat Instructors qualifications as you the courses draw on the knowledge and skills leant during the RYA Day Skipper Theory course.The course is delivered through presentations and excercises designed to give you hands on practical experience of chartwork passage planning, position fixitng much more and preparing those going on to take Day Skipper Practical courses.
Classes are limited to 8 people as we feel the quality of tuition is increased, allowing instructors more time interact effectively with students and dedicating more time to individual needs.
Anyone wishing to complete the RYA Coastal Skipper/ Yachtmaster Offshore will require this in depth theory course. Building from the Day Skipper Theory the course takes your existing knowledge to give you a much greater understanding and indepth knowledge of navigation for both sail and power and acquire the skills for going further afield.
Both the 5 day intensive and evening course are kept to a maximum of 8 students ensuring that your instructor has plenty of time to dedicate to your questions and individual needs.
It is recommended by the RYA that the Day Skipper Theory course has been completed prior to enlisting on this course as much of the course builds on knowledge learnt at Day Skipper level.

The sea survival course gives a hands on experience of inflating and boarding a liferaft, fully clothed and with inflated life jackets giving you a real feeling for what you may encounter should you ever be in the position of having to leave your vessel.
A totally invaluable experience preparing you for a situation we all hope you will never have to face.
A one day course covering both the theory of sea survival and the practical application of the equipment you encounter - spare clothing is a must as you WILL get wet.
Course Dates & Prices VHF Radio Courses - RYA SRC/ DSC - 1 day Minimum Age 12. No Experience Required A one day course, the RYA VHF Radio course gives the required certification to apply for your operators licence, which is a legal reequirement
A VHF radio is an invaluable tool and should take a high priority when considering the equipment you require on any voyage. Not only could it make the difference in a life threatening situation but is most useful for routine communications with marinas, the Coastguards, harbour authorities and other boats.
The use of a VHF radio requires a radio opereators licence, as well as an understanding of callng protocol and procedures. The RYA SRC /DSC Radio course is designed to provide the required knowledge and the successful completion of which will give you with the required certification to apply for the VHF radio opereators licence. With hands on practice of routine and distress calls, at the end of your day you will have both practical and theory knowledge on using a vhf radio set.

The International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at sea state that if you have a radar onboard you must know how to use it. This course is designed to fulfil the requirements of this legislation and some categories of commercial work afloat, teaching the students how to use small boat radar to assist decision-making in navigation, pilotage and collision avoidance.
