Students are required to demonstrate both a sound practical and theoretical understanding of the RYA Level 2 syllabus. Failure to successfully demonstrate a manoeuvre at the first attempt does not constitute automatic failure; craft awareness is much more significant.

Course length - 2 days, 1 evening

Certification - RYA Advanced Powerboat Certificate
Previous experience - RYA Level 2 (coastal) and a knowledge of navigation and chart work to the level of the Day Skipper Shore Based Certificate
(It is also strongly recommended that the candidates hold a first aid certificate and a VHF operator’s license)

Previous Experience - A knowledge of IRPCS (Road Rules) will be an advantage.


General Information

A written test for those that want to use their craft on inland waterways in the UK or in Europe. The test is based on the CEVNI rules (European Inland Waterways regulations). This is a mulitple choice question paper based on the rules laid out in the book 'Euroregs for Inland Waterways'
If you require your ICC to cover you for using your craft on Inland waters then this is the test for you.

A knowledge of IRPCS (Road Rules) will be an advantage in addition to your knowledge gained from the book 'Euroregs for Inland waterways' which we supply.

Getting tuition is like having a protection on your investment, being safe in the knowledge that you have the skills to look after yourself, your passengers, other water users and your boat.

Own boat tuition is available as an opportunity for you handle your boat safe in the knowledge that there is a competent and experienced instructor on board to run a course with you specific to your craft.

Alternatively it can be used solely to build your confidence and individual skills.

Kids Afloat - Youth Powerboat Training

Powerboat training for kids in the easter and summer school holidays.

General Information

Aim: To encourage young people (8-16 year olds) to participate in RYA powerboat courses.
Instructors: RYA qualified & experienced in child care and childrens teaching!
