RYA Instructors & Trainers
The Team
"Highly Qualified, Professional & Experienced but Above All, Friendly"

Arran Scott, owner and Principal at Absolute Aqua will ensure that you get the most out of your training, whilst having an enjoyable and memorable experience at the same time. It is his passion in life, having been a keen sailor since he was a young boy, and that passion and enthusiasm really comes across in his teaching.
"Whatever your requirements from a course, you can be assured that they will be met here at Absolute Aqua"
"Our team of highly qualified instructors deliver courses and training to an extremely high standard and are experienced in all fields of water sports; jetski, powerboating, motorcruising, and sailing. The team have a wealth of experience not only in instructing but in ownership, racing, long distance voyages and boat maintenance, making them well placed to answer questions across the board and not just on tuition"
Dave Priddle
Dave is our very own salty sea dog! He is a true fan of wooden boats and a regular at the wooden boat festivals around the world! However we have found him to be a brilliant powerboat instructor and a dab hand at jet skiing! Teaching both for us for some time now. He is a reliable, fun and relaxed making him a very popular instructor with the students.
Paul Scott
Paul is truly at home on the water, a master at boat handling and a wealth of knowledge making him one of Absolute Aqua's key instructors. His 40 years of sailing experiance, covering areas such as the Med and France prove a true asset when teaching. Paul is a keen powerboater and loves the speed and manouverability of the jetski! You can look forward to a fun, relaxing and rewarding time when Paul is your instructor!
Tim Pearce
Tim is our Motor Cruising chief instructor!. Tim used to test boats for a living, finding their limits on a day to day basis. His boat handling is some of the best we have ever seen and his students are always amazed at what they can make a boat do under his tuition! Tim has a genuine enthusiasm towards teaching and being on the water! He is happy to help at every turn and we often find him going the extra mile with boat owners, in order for them to get the most from their time on the water!
Dave B
As an ex-marine Dave had many stories and some of the best training money can buy! Dave can regularly be found running our sea-survival courses. He provides relevent knowledge from personal experiances that few other instructors can provide. Dave is a light hearted member of the team however he is very serious about teaching and the subject.
Steve Maslin
Steve is both Yachtmaster and Power Instructor and has recently joined the Absolute Aqua team as a freelance Instructor. Having spent over 25 years on the water on small - and some not so small -sailboats and powerboats, he brings with him a wealth of experience - all delivered in a warm and friendly style. (Beware of the naff jokes!!) Having over 25 thousand miles under the keel and just back from Australia, he looks forward to having the chance to share his passion for boating with new and regular students at Absolute Aqua. Whilst he cannot promise the warmth of the Australia weather - he can promise the warmth of his personality to ensure you have not only a valuable time learning, but also a great deal of fun when out on the water.
Nick Rolf
Nick has worked as a freelance instructor with us for two years now and we are delighted to say that we helped to get him started on his RYA instructor career path.
He is currently qualified to teach up to Advanced Powerboat, Safety Boat, PWC, VHF, First Aid and the inland CEVNI accreditation.
In January 2010, Nick undertook his shore-based instructors ticket which will allow him to teach the RYA's Basic Navigation & Safety and the Day Skipper theory courses. Nick firmly believes that the secret to running a good course and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction is the perpetual supply of doughnuts - what else do you need to know?
Rick Fry

Rick is always on the go, whether it be on the water, climbing and diving, either for leisure or in a working capacity. Having worked on and around boats for most of his life he is a much valued member of the Absolute Aqua team as a Powerboat Instructor.
His understanding and knowledge of the water is enhanced by his years of experience in the boating industry, his diving (also a qualified instructor and commercial diver) and as a part time leader of a mountain rescue team you couldn't be in safer hands!
Steven Cove
Steve is one of the major cogs in the Absolute Aqua machine. Although Steve is not often out on the water he runs the corporate sales and oragnising! Steve is a fan of being on the water and this enthusiasm is infectious when you speak to him. He is there to help, there is no hard sale from us. Steve is here to let you know about all that we can offer and to provide exactly what you want to make your day special!
